What is CHAKRA-III ?

The  CHAKRA-III  is basically an attack submarine. It's main points are as below:

• It is to be delivered to India by Russia by 2025.

•  It will be equipped with Indian communication system and sensors, including indegeneously developed USHUS SONAR system and panchendriya SONAR.

•  It comes with a unified submarine SONAR and tactical control system.

•  It's net weight is 8140 metric tonn (8140000 Kg).

•  It's average speed is 30 Knots (15.433 metre/second).

•  It's operating depth is 530 metres (0.53 Km).

•  It's crew capability is 73 persons.

•  It is loaded with four 650-mm and 533-mm launch tubes for firing type-65 and type-53 torpedoes (Both torpedoes are made in Russia).

•  It is powered with 190 mW (mega watt) nuclear reactor.
